    COFFEE

    KOKAKO ORGANIC COFFEE

Coffee has a long and rich history in discovery and development which now reaches across the globe and has an impact in most societies. It can be a very personal drink with many permutations available, providing a great excuse to meet with someone over a cup-of-joe!

THE KITCHEN is proud to partner with Kokako Organic Coffee as the preferred supplier of all things coffee. This includes equipment, house blend and single origin coffee beans, and specialty cold brew. Apart from the outstanding coffee produced by Kokako, they were selected in collaboration due to their unwavering drive to be the best and partner with the best.

Our baristas are closely aligned with the Kokako operations, being able to tap into internationally recognised expertise which means as a customer you can be assured of a consistently high quality coffee experience every time. For those with an inner ‘coffee-geek’ there is plenty of opportunity to learn the intricacies of coffee and tap into knowledge and innovation from the best in the game. Visit kokako.co.nz to find out how coffee can be sustainable, fair-trade and organic, and how the bean can be tracked from source to cup.

An exiting addition to the menu is our own ‘fat black’ coffee. Ask our baristas what makes it an exceptional drink for taste and health.

    JUICES

Juicing is a great way to get micronutrients into the body fast! Our busy lifestyle often leaves little room for large volumes of fresh and seasonal produce to be consumed with food preparation time being scarce. Juicing, when done right, can provide the body with a super amount of essential nutrients. Cold press juicing allows the fruit and vegetable’s most nutrient dense qualities to be extracted safely without damaging the plant cells. Traditional juicing methods such as centrifugal methods result in damaged plant cells and oxidisation within minutes with the exposed free radicals being potentially very damaging. Juicing enables the body to rest the digestive system while still providing all the building blocks of a nourished body.

At THE KITCHEN our cold press juices have been specifically designed to give you a boost of micro-nutrients that can be enjoyed on their own as a snack or with a meal or used in a specifically designed fast or juice programme.

“During fasting the body burns up and excretes huge amounts of accumulated wastes. We can help this cleansing process by drinking alkaline juices while fasting. I have supervised many fasts and made extensive tests of fasting patients, and I am convinced that drinking alkaline-forming fruit and vegetable juices instead of water, during fasting, will increase the healing effect of fasting. Elimination of uric acid and other inorganic acids will be accelerated. And sugars in juices will strengthen the heart. Juice fasting is the best form of fasting” Dr Ragnar Berg, Nobel Prize Winner, one of the world’s greatest food scientists.

Following 30 years of regular fasting, here is a simple one day fast to start:

On waking Drink or sip one glass of warm water, with 1-2 tablespoons of pure inner-gel aloe vera juice, 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. You can have any amount of each of these, or only one, or just plain water – whatever you like!

Gently exercise Walk, run, skip, swim — whatever is your thing, but get your heart beating for at least 40 minutes. Warm down and gently stretch afterwards.

Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner A freshly made vegetable juice based around local seasonal vegetables. Go green as much as you can. My favourite ingredients are celery, cucumber, kale, leafy greens and rounded out with beetroot, carrot and some herbs like ginger. You can add powdered green superfoods if you like (spirulina).

In-between meal-times Brush your teeth and sip on pure water or pure herbal teas as desired.

*NOTE: Take no fizzy drinks, sports drinks, energy drinks, alcohol, coffee or black tea. Repeat for as many days as you like, but remember, I always recommend starting with just one day for your first fast.

For more on fasting, go to www.exceptionalhealth.com or pick up my book on fasting; Eat Less, Live Long.

“Due to the effects of fasting, a fast can help you heal with greater speed; cleanse your liver, kidneys, and colon; purify your blood; help you lose excess weight and water; flush out toxins; clear the eyes and tongue; and cleanse the breath” Dr James F. Balch, MD, Prescription for Nutritional Healing

Written by Jason Shon Bennett from ExceptionalHealth.com ® & ©Jason is regarded as a guru on diet, lifestyle and environment and teaches the use of fasting as a means of resting the body. Cold press juice is the best way to give the body necessary nutrients during a fast.

    WATER

We all know that water is essential for our body and we should probably all drink more than we do. A lack of water can result in headaches, insomnia, lack of energy, an array of skin conditions, constipation, muscle cramps, lowered immunity, altered hormones, sweet cravings, altered mood states, and dull lifeless hair, to name a few.  Water is called the universal solvent because it can dissolve more chemicals than any other liquid.  This means that water can potentially be the most chemically-laden thing that we consume, and considering we need so much of it, we should also be aware of what else its carrying.

Our filtered water removes harmful chlorine and some of the heavy metals that are not helpful to our body.  Filtering water results in improved taste, enhanced absorption of water, and a healthier digestive system.

    'LIVE WATER'

Pure water has a neutral pH7. THE KITCHEN also has alkalised or ‘live water’ which offers a pH 9-9.5. This helps to neutralise acidity buildup in the body, assists detox of cells and encourages more oxygen at cellular level.  This special water is also 'micro-cluster' water. This means that it is able to reach deeper into the tissues of your body and by that hydrates more effectively.  Essential bio-minerals and trace elements are added to the water, along with infared treatment, resulting in delicious water that neutralises free radicals.  There are many benefits to drinking ‘live water’ and we believe you will notice a large difference in drinking it – take a look at our suppliers website for more information and to order your own personal filter (www.ionza.co.nz).
